Goleta Dojo Construction Set to Begin

When we first opened the dojo, it was with a vision of creating a place where families could train together, grow stronger and learn the values that martial arts instills. Within a few years, we started dreaming about a Goleta school.

Now that dream is becoming a reality. We're thrilled to announce that Santa Barbara Dojo will start construction on the Goleta Dojo this August, and we're aiming to open our doors by the end of the year. How exciting is that?

Where it started

From the beginning, our dojo has been built around families. We believe the mat is one of the best places for parents and kids to grow together. They learn respect, focus and perseverance side by side, and they carry those values home.

That same vision is what kept the Goleta dream alive all these years. A new school means a new community of families who can train, grow and learn together, the way our downtown families have from the start.

Construction begins in Goleta

We're early in the planning stage, and there's a lot to do between now and opening day. Our goal is to get the doors open quickly and efficiently, so Goleta families can start training as soon as possible.

The Goleta Dojo will be built on the same foundation as our downtown school: caring instructors, a strong community and martial arts taught as education, not just exercise. We'll share more as construction moves along. It's been a long road from the first idea to a construction start, and we're grateful to the families who have believed in this dream with us.

Learning from a guest instructor

We're hosting Rob Ingram for a special nunchucks seminar. Rob has been training for decades and brings deep knowledge and enthusiasm to every class. Some of you may recognize him from his popular YouTube channel, McDojo Life, where he "keeps the martial arts legit."

The seminar is family-friendly and good for all experience levels. We believe guest instructors are a gift to any dojo. They bring a fresh perspective and new skills, and they remind everyone that there's always more to learn. Nunchucks take coordination, timing and patience, which makes them a fun challenge for parents and kids to learn side by side.

Preparing for black belt

Have a black belt test coming up? Every candidate is required to attend a Black Belt Candidate Meeting at least once before their test. It's where we go over what's expected, so you can prepare with confidence.

Thank you for being part of the Santa Barbara Dojo community. We're excited about the road ahead and grateful to be on this journey with you.
