Our Granada Hills Dojo Opens

The empty Granada Hills dojo space during build-out, before the mats went in

We're so proud to bring family martial arts to the San Fernando Valley. Master Garret's Santa Barbara Dojo Granada Hills is officially open, and we just celebrated with a grand opening party!

Here's how the new school came together and what the party looked like.

A bigger, better home

Master Garret's Northridge school has been growing, and this summer we shared that it was moving to a bigger, better home in Granada Hills. He worked hard building out the property and getting the empty space ready for mats, and the new dojo opened its doors earlier in October.

Watching a school grow like this is one of the most rewarding things in martial arts. It takes vision, patience and a lot of physical work, and Master Garret put in all of it.

The grand opening party

To celebrate, we invited everyone to wear their gi and come to the party, with classes, lunch, prizes and family fun. We had an amazing turnout of students from Santa Barbara who made the trip to support the official Granada Hills location of Santa Barbara Dojo.

That turnout said a lot. Our students didn't just come to see a new building. They came to stand behind one of our own.

Grand openings are a celebration, but they're also a beginning. The real work starts the next day, when the first new students walk in and start their own martial arts journey.

What a family of schools means

We believe a dojo family doesn't stop at one address. Students at every one of our schools share the same values and belong to the same community. As we grow, our goal is to bring the same family martial arts experience to more neighborhoods, without losing what makes it special.

We're proud to see our values take root in a new community, and we can't wait to welcome the families who will call this dojo home.

Know someone in the Valley?

If you have friends or family near Granada Hills, let them know! The new dojo is on San Fernando Mission Boulevard, and you can follow along on Instagram at @granadahillsdojo.

Congratulations, Master Garret. We can't wait to see what you build.

To everyone who drove down for the party: thank you. You showed what it means to be a dojo family.
