Our Kickboxing Challenge: What It Includes and Who It's For

If you've been meaning to get back into shape but haven't found the right starting point, our kickboxing challenge is designed for you. It's a focused, coached program with a clear start and finish. It combines regular training, a nutrition plan built around your life and a coach who checks in with you every week. The challenge runs at our Santa Barbara and Goleta dojos.

What we believe

Getting fit isn't about willpower. It's about having a plan you can follow, a coach who knows your name and a group of people working toward the same goal. The challenge gives you all of that in one place. It has a defined beginning and end, so you know exactly what you're committing to.

A clear finish line helps. Open-ended goals like "get in shape someday" are easy to put off. A challenge with a start date, a group starting alongside you and a coach expecting you turns a vague intention into a plan. And because your group starts together, you'll be beginning alongside other people who are new too.

What the challenge includes

Kickboxing classes. You'll train several times a week in our KUT (Kickboxers Ultimate Training) classes. Each class includes a warm-up, cardio kickboxing combinations on the heavy bag and strength work. Your coach plans every workout, so you just show up and follow along.

Strength work. Strength training is built into class, helping you get stronger alongside the cardio.

A personal nutrition plan. The meal plan is included only in our kickboxing challenge. It's built around the foods you already eat and the days you actually have time to cook. You get recipes with the steps written out and shopping lists to make the week easier. Challenge participants don't all get the same menu.

Weekly coach check-ins. Every week, your coach checks in with you to see how training and eating are going, answer questions and help you adjust. Having someone in your corner makes it much easier to stay on track.

Who it's for

The challenge is a good fit if you're:

  • New to kickboxing. No experience needed. Your coach will show you every combination, along with a lower-impact version if you want one.
  • Coming back after time off. Whether it's been a few months or many years, you can start where you are.
  • Looking for structure. If you do better with a plan and someone holding you accountable, this is built for you.

You don't need a fitness background. What you do need is the ability to attend classes for the length of the challenge. Showing up consistently is what makes it work.

How it starts

New challenge groups start on Saturdays. To join, sign up for our kickboxing challenge online. Before your first class, you'll come to an orientation where you meet your coach, see the dojo and talk about your goals. It's also your chance to ask anything you want to know before you commit.

What we ask of you

We'll provide the plan, the coaching and the community. In return, we ask you to:

  • Put your class days on your calendar and treat them like appointments.
  • Follow your nutrition plan on most days, and use your backup meals on the days you can't.
  • Be honest with your coach during check-ins about what's working and what isn't.
  • Come back after a missed day. You don't need a new plan. Just come to the next class.

After the challenge

When the challenge ends, you can talk with your coach about continuing in our regular kickboxing program, where you'll keep training with the same coaches and many of the same people.
